How far do you travel for house cleaning services? Our headquarters is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, and we provide cleaning services within a 20-mile radius of our location. Our standard service area includes Albemarle County, Ruckersville, Crozet, North Garden, and Palmyra.
What is the difference between a standard cleaning and a move-in/move-out cleaning? A standard cleaning is designed for a furnished, lived-in home, while a move-in/move-out cleaning is a deep clean designed for an empty house.
Move-In/Move-Out Cleaning Services (Empty Home): This service ensures a property is spotless for a new tenant, a landlord, or before you unpack your belongings. Our checklist includes:
Bathrooms: Sinks, tubs, and showers thoroughly cleaned; chrome fixtures shined; toilets, vanity tops, and mirrors cleaned; light fixtures, cabinets, and drawers cleaned (inside and out); vents, doors, and baseboards wiped; cobwebs removed; light switches and sockets sanitized; floors vacuumed and mopped; trash emptied.
Kitchen: Countertops and backsplashes sanitized; sinks cleaned; stainless steel/chrome shined; inside and outside of all appliances cleaned (oven, refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave); cabinets and drawers cleaned (inside and out); doors and blinds wiped; cobwebs removed; light switches, sockets, and baseboards cleaned; floors vacuumed and mopped; trash emptied.
Bedrooms & Living Areas: All surfaces dusted; mirrors and inside windows cleaned; windowsills, blinds, and doors wiped (including closets); baseboards wiped; ceiling fans, light switches, and sockets cleaned; cobwebs removed; closet shelves wiped; washer and dryer cleaned (inside and out); floors vacuumed and mopped. Standard Cleaning Services (Furnished Home): This service maintains your current living space and is fully customizable. We clean the same three core areas (Bathrooms, Kitchens, Bedrooms & Living Areas) as listed above, tailored to a furnished home. We also offer the following add-ons for an extra charge:

Do you provide commercial cleaning, or just residential? Yes, The Cleaning Company specializes in both residential house cleaning and office cleaning, as well as and move-in/move-out services for homes, apartments, and rental properties.
How long does it take to get a house cleaning estimate? You will receive a customized cleaning estimate from us within 24 hours or less. We respect your time and strive to provide fast, accurate quotes. It may take longer to reply on weekends and holidays.
How does your recurring cleaning pricing work? After your initial deep clean, we provide a customized recurring price based on your home's size and specific needs. To maintain this discounted recurring rate, your house cleanings must be scheduled no more than 6 weeks apart. If more than 6 weeks pass between visits, the service will be billed at our standard hourly cleaning rate.
Do you bring your own cleaning supplies? Yes, our cleaning crews bring all necessary supplies and equipment, including commercial-grade cleaning solutions, microfiber cloths, mops, vacuums, and brooms. If you have specific products you prefer we use (or avoid) on certain surfaces, please let us know.
Do you offer eco-friendly or green cleaning products? Yes! We are happy to accommodate requests for eco-friendly, non-toxic, or natural cleaning products. Simply let us know your preferences when requesting your estimate.
Do I need to be home while the house cleaners are there? You do not need to be home during your cleaning service. You are welcome to stay, run errands, or be at work. We will arrange secure access to your home beforehand based on whatever makes you most comfortable.
Are your cleaning services pet-friendly? Yes, we are a fully pet-friendly cleaning company! We love dogs, cats, and other furry friends, and our crew is trained to safely work around your pets.
Will the same house cleaners come to my home each time? We make every effort to send the same cleaning crew to your home for each recurring visit. While we cannot guarantee it 100% of the time due to scheduling or staff illness, providing you with consistent, familiar faces is a top priority for our business.
How long does a typical house cleaning take? The duration of a cleaning appointment depends heavily on the square footage of your home, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the overall condition of the space. We can provide an estimated time frame when you request your quote.
What happens if I am not satisfied with my cleaning? Your satisfaction is our top priority. If you are ever unhappy with a specific area we cleaned, please contact us and we will happily work with you to make things right.
What forms of payment do you accept for cleaning services? After your cleaning is complete, we will email you an invoice. We accept secure online payments via credit card, PayPal, or you may pay by check.
What is your cancellation policy? We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a cleaning appointment. If we do not receive notice within that 24-hour window, a $75 cancellation fee will be applied to your account.
How does tipping work for my cleaning crew? Tips are never required but are always greatly appreciated by our hardworking teams. If you choose to tip your house cleaners, you can leave cash at the time of service or add the tip directly to your digital payment.
